| | Our days here have been full, but simple and relaxing. I am learning how to move around on post, and as I am very bad at directions I feel so proud of myself for knowing how to get to the grocery store, the PX (a mini Walmart type store) the parks, the gas station, and the pools. I even took mental notes on how to get to and from the mall when we went the other night. The girls have been sharing the only bedroom here for both naps and bedtime. It is going very well. I was incredibly leery about them sharing for naps, but they seem to do fine. Mara has mastered the art of climbing out of her playpen, so if she wakes before Charlotte, she simply leaves the room quietly. She has done this the past two mornings, coming out to greet Danny and I in the living room. In fact, I am trying her out in the real bed this afternoon. I figure if she will stay in her playpen when we lay her down, then why not a bed? We sleep on the pull out sofa bed. It is surprisingly comfy with a couple thick comforters piled on it for extra cushion. I prefer the sleeping arrangments this way. Otherwise Danny's alarm would wake everyone up at 4:30am. He has PT every morning, and then comes home for another hour and a half, showers, and goes back to bed. I know all that in and out would waken the girls. There are laundry facilities here too! I found out yesterday, and was SO happy. Otherwise I would be waiting for Danny to find time to do all the laundry. He's pretty busy, and sometimes you just need clean clothes and bedding asap. So I did a load last night, and another one is due today. That should catch us up. I finally caved and purchased a maternity bathing suit. Well..the top is maternity...simple brown halter. The bottom is a skirt bottom I grabbed at JcPennys. There are pools here we can use. And it is SO HOT all day long. I really was against the idea of squeezing my round body into a swimsuit, but I didn't see how my pride was fair to the girls. Mara has seen the pool a few times, and constantly asks about them. So two nights ago I grabbed a swimsuit...ughhh...and this morning we all put our suits on first thing, lathered Mara in sunscreen, and headed to the pool. We had a blast. I purchased a couple floatie devices to place the girls in. Charlotte loved it...Mara hung out on the pool steps. It was a refreshing way to spend out 90 degree morning. I already feel like our time here is too short. I go back to IN the weekend of July 11th. Because I usually go into labor early (which would put me at the last week of July ~37 weeks) we felt it was safest to get back to IN by mid July, see my doctor there, and relax until the big (and extremely painful day). Hopefully we'll arrive looking all tan and summery. I will simply be happy as long as this heat does not make me swell to the size of a watermelon. |
